Sony has recently launched the successor to its Xperia PRO smartphone. It’s the new Sony Xperia PRO-I that claims to be the world’s first smartphone with a 1-inch Exmor CMOS RS sensor. The Exmor RS CMOS is Sony’s patented noise reduction tech with improved low-light sensor performance.

This sensor has the ability for phase detection autofocus that’s available only in most good-quality DSLR cameras.

It further supports the 12-bit RAW variable and shooting dual aperture for seamlessly changing the depth of field (DoF). Some other regular features expected in this latest smartphone are a 4K OLED panel with HDR, 120Hz refresh rate, and Snapdragon 888 processor.

Sony Xperia PRO-I features a triple camera setup with premium Zeiss T anti-reflective coating. It’s even equipped with a 3D iToF sensor for calculating the distance between the subject and the camera for the most accurate and faster autofocus.

The primary 12Mp sensor of the smartphone uses the advanced 24 mm lens with advanced Zeiss Tessar optics. Due to this, the phone ensures less distortion and better contrast and sharpness — makes it a great choice for photography during fall season.

This smartphone even has a 124-degree ultra-wide-angle 12MP, 16 mm lens, as well as a 12MP 50 mm telephoto camera featuring OIS. It’s also the first-ever phone with 4K 120fps slo-mo video. The smartphone also features 315 phase-detection AF points to cover 90-percent of its frame.

There is also a real-time eye-AF to track the difference between animals, humans, and objects. Plus, its anti-distortion shutter enables cleaner capturing of fast-moving objects along with AF/AE, 20fps burst shooting. You even get rapid toggles to shoot instantly in the advanced photography pro mode, which filters the wind noise with proprietary audio separation technology. Plus, its rightly distinct color settings offer better picture clarity with a 2:19 recording ratio.

For the front camera, this smartphone comes with an 8MP selfie camera with a ¼” Exmor RS sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and an 84-degree wide-angle lens.

This Qualcomm Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone is further paired with Adreno 660 GPU that has up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage (expandable up to 1 TB). It runs on Android 11 and boasts a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for better security.

For music, it includes a 3.5 mm audio jack, Dolby Atmos, stereo speakers, 360-Reality Audio, 360 spatial sound, 360 Reality Audio hardware decoding, DSEE Ultimate, Qualcomm aptX HD audio, and stereo recording.

It comes packed with a 4500mAh battery and 30W fast charging, supporting USB PD, Qi wireless charging, Xperia Adaptive Charge, and battery share function. It’s also rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.

And, for connectivity, it includes 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS/GLONASS, and USB 3.1 Type-C.

Price and availability

Priced at $1800, this gadget will be available in countries like the US, UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, and Nordics from December 2021. In other countries, it will be launched by the end of 2021 and, the pre-orders of the smartphone from October 28.
